iPad Minimum Requirements

iPad Minimum Requirements for CBS Students
2016-2017 School Year
For new students, the iPad Air (the iPad Mini and iPad Pro do not meet minimum requirements)
with at least 32 Gb of memory.

Note:  With the advent of iOS 10, the iPad2 and iPad3 will no longer be supported by Apple.  Thus, if you own an iPad2 or iPad3 you will need to replace it with an iPad Air or newer version, following the minimum requirements set forth here.

  • If a student uses older versions of an iPad, and it becomes outdated (i.e., school- required apps, books, etc. will not run on it, functions required by the school are not present on the iPad because of software issues, etc.), the student is required to get a newer, compatible version.
  • No 3G or 4G iPads are allowed at CBS. So, buying them from a cellular provider is not an option since the iPads supplied by Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint will typically include a wireless plan with 3G or 4G.
  • Parents of returning students who already possess an older version of an iPad need not worry about obtaining the new iPad Air – as the older version of the iPad will suffice for the student’s remaining years at CBS.
  • Parents of new students are expected to purchase the iPad Air. If a new student uses an older version of an iPad which becomes outdated during his time at CBS, he will be required to obtain a compatible version of the iPad at that time.
  • Griffin Survivor or Otterbox Defender case is strongly recommended.
  • iPad insurance for the entire time the student attends at CBS is strongly suggested.
    • Some of the insurance providers students have used include:
      • AppleCare
      • SquareTrade
      • Worth Ave Group
      • Store protection plan (Best Buy, etc.)
